Playing Global: Ubimax scales up American business

Percy Stocker, August 17, 2017

Undoubtedly, with companies like Google and Facebook, the U.S. is truly the global technology leader. However, I was surprised to see that European companies actually outpaced the U.S. in terms of industrial Augmented Reality (AR) and Wearable Computing adoption.

Over the past few years, Ubimax has supported over 150 companies on their Wearable Computing journey and it has been astonishing to experience how fast, bold and decisive European enterprises have been in adopting this innovative technology to ensure their competitive edge.

In 2017, this European dominance has started to diminish as numerous American companies are investigating how Augmented Reality can improve their businesses. Strategically positioned U.S. players such as technology giant Intel are on the move to catch up to their European competition which themselves had already started to include their American subsidiaries into global innovation programs several years ago. Good examples of these early global adopters are DHL or BMW. Building on our strong European customer base and Ubimax’s excellent “German engineering”, we are the perfect partner to support their activities on a global scale.

In 2016, Ubimax foresaw this enormous uptake in North American demand and opened offices in Atlanta (U.S.) and Guadalajara (Mexico) to offer optimal local support for the Americas. But this was only the beginning: 2017 is the year to scale up our U.S. operations and play truly global! Therefore, I feel honored having been selected among many candidates to participate in the German Accelerator program, which allows us to directly connect with key decision makers in Silicon Valley. This goes hand in hand with establishing our West Coast office in San Francisco to be close to both customers and technology partners.

To adequately address the enormous U.S. customer interest, I will move to San Francisco and will dedicate most of my time to the American market. I am very much looking forward to all the discussions with the companies that are equally excited about what our Ubimax Frontline solutions can do for them.
